Once again, Kansas State University students, faculty and staff and the community of Manhattan will have the opportunity to make a difference during the 7th annual “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. In our first year, more than $7,500 was raised. However, this has grown to an astounding $13,000 being donated just last year for the Mid-Kansas Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, through our campaign. Susan G. Komen has recently been honored as one of the most trusted non-profit organizations in the nation and the Mid-Kansas Affiliate helps provide funding to cover breast screenings for Kansas men and women, in addition to continued breast cancer treatment research.
If you think you’re “Tough Enough to Wear Pink,” join the KSU Collegiate CattleWomen and Sigma Alpha Professional Agriculture Sorority in raising funds for yet another great year. Throughout February we will be raising funds through the sale of black, Tough Enough to Wear Pink t-shirts in the K-State Student Union and through pre-orders for clubs, teams, or just groups of people who want to place one large order. All profits will once again be going towards the fight against breast cancer. T-shirts will be sold in person in the Union during the week of February 18-22 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, as well as being sold at the K-State Intercollegiate Rodeo Performance on February 22 in Weber Arena. Friday night’s performance will be the conclusion of our fundraiser, with many exciting things happening during their “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” night. Also on Friday, will be a FREE barbeque, open to the general public, faculty and students. During the barbeque, attendees have the opportunity to buy shirts and make free-will donations. Exciting additions of a silent auction and much, much more will take place during this event and all proceeds will also go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
